Slipping in a New Slip

If you haven't been down to the harbor lately, you might not know that the many older slips in front of what used to be  Larry Dudley Yacht Sales (before they moved), had been taken away, leaving a vast expanse of open water at the extreme east end of the harbor.

Well, now that you know that, you can know this: new slips are being built! I don't know why that requires an exclamation point, even though it is kind of exciting.

So much has happened at the harbor in the last year, from the Portside Apartments opening up to the refurbishment of the main plaza, adding new boat slips now seems par for the course.

As you can tell, I'm trying to convey a sense of excitement about this place - hopefully you've gotten the hint that I think it's pretty cool.

My favorite part? The best part of this whole little harbor? It's the working fishing boats, and the Gentry Eagle, and the seafood. It's the Coastal Cone, and The Greek, and the Dreamer that runs a nice, slow-moving tour of the whole place. It's the bright sea air, and the gulls, and the details, like the map of the   Channel Islands embedded in the main plaza. It's the harbor seals that hang out in the slips, and the cranes and cormorants that chatter and hunt down by the boat launching ramps.

I hope you can come and enjoy these, and a million other things to see and do down by the sea in Ventura.
