Attack of the Swan Boats

Here in the harbor you get used to seeing all kinds of boats. Tall ships that visit in the spring, fishing boats, sailboats, canoes, kayaks, rowboats, power boats, luxury yachts, swan boats.

Wait, swan boats?

Yeah! Swan boats, duck boats, even dragon boats!

March of 2021, year 2 of the Great Pandemic, saw Ventura Boat Rentals add swan boats to their fleet. A risky move when all the world is shut down? Possibly. An optimistic step towards a world that will soon reopen? One should certainly say so!

These are pedal-powered boats that seat up to four people. If you're just in it for the boat ride, sit in back and let the folks up front do the work. There's a nice folding top to block the sun and possibly a sprinkle or two. And then there are the lights...

When evening falls and the waters call, you'll find that these fun little boats are equipped with exciting LED lights. While the lights don't seem to be of much use as a headlight, they do a great job of making s spectacle!

You can rent the boats by the hour, and pedal to your heart's content. You don't have to be a master mariner or an ancient sea salt to navigate them. They're pretty much point and go.

Of course you don't want to take a boat like this out of the harbor. They're built for the flat inner waters, not the bouncing waves around the breakwater and beyond.

The boats are certainly popular on the weekends But don't be too surprised to see the glittering, flashing lights of these crazy little watercraft most nights of the week as well.
